Gratefulness

GRATEFULNESS

All virtues considered,  the one I would most treasure might be gratefulness. Gratefulnes to God for all that He has done, been and given to me.

When clouds obscure the sky, when cynical mockers  rail , or when hope seems to be a dead word, we are often despondent and hurt. Even our dear ones, could  disappoint, discourage or depress us. At such times, being grateful for what we have opens a chink in the brazen sky, allowing sunlight and hope to flood in. Truly, we do have so much to be grateful for.  A writer had put it this way, “I felt sorry for myself that I did not have shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet.” Gratefulness banishes self pity and despondency.

Gods blessings are often camouflaged to our ungrateful eyes. Consciously removing the blinkers of  ungratefulness uncovers  His hand of provision and protection all around us, till we can echo.. “Underneath are His everlasting arms.”

And so in the storm or path winding through thicket and forest, this practice of gratefulness and trust can be our beacon of hope, a lamp in the dark leading us  to a place where quiet waters flow.
